Tour de Forth - Nouveau route and profile

The Nouveau route is 58km (36 miles) with 624m (2947ft) of climbing, starting and finishing at RBS Gogarburn. The route is open road and we have tried to stay on the back roads and minimise the number of traffic lights but please be aware of traffic, road crossings and take care. The route stays close to the Forth but we don’t cross it.

We have one water station at the parking area at the Park Bistro after Philipstoun after 35km (22 miles).

All participants need to obey the Highway Code and abide by the Road Traffic Act. Helmets are mandatory for the sportive and take spare inners, water, some snacks, some money for emergencies and don't forget a bit of sun protection.

Similar to last year we will have a staged start so please estimate your expected time so we can create groups, don't worry we will not be rigid and help you cycle with your friends. We do need to set a time limit to let the volunteers go home. You must leave the water station by 1130am, be at Newbridge by 1230pm and back at Ingliston by 1pm so we can pack up and go home!

We leave RBS Gogarburn via the East exit onto Gogar Station Road, and then Gogarbank Road to Ratho then onwards to Newbridge. We turn left onto the A89 and then taking care to turn right at the filter onto the B800 to Kirkliston. After Kirkliston we head for South Queensferry via Dalmeny, turning right onto Station Road crossing under the Forth bridge to head along the coast to Hopetoun, we turn before the entrance to the House. We join the A904 for 800m and then turn right onto the backroads to Westmuir equine centre, rejoining the A904 for 3km before heading for Philipstoun and the water station at the Park Bistro at the canal.

After the waterstation we head for Threemiletown and up a hill before turning left to Fauchledean, after that it is downhill most of the way to Niddry, Newbridge, Ratho and Gogarburn.

There will be marshalls at all the busy junctions and right turns, but please take care on the busy roads.
